VII INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF MINISTERS IN CHARGE OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SPORTS

Pere Lavega participated in the Observer category, invited by UNESCO, representing INEFC and AEJeST, in the Seventh International Conference of Ministers and Senior Officials in Charge of Physical Education and Sport (MINEPS VII) organized by UNESCO, in Baku , Republic of Azerbaijan, June 26-29, 2023.
The conference was coordinated by Mr. Farid Gayibov, Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan and Gabriela Ramos, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Social and Human Sciences.
Results that are expected to be obtained from this conference:
Commitments of the Member States to promote inclusive policies and increase investments to promote quality physical education and physical activity policies. The importance of reinforcing, among other aspects, was highlighted:
a) data collection; promote quality physical education policies and practices;
b) promote gender equality,
c) the social and environmental legacy of major sporting events;
d) prioritize actions in the African continent;
e) greater impact investment in sport;
f) empowering young people through sport;
g) protection of the integrity of the sport and the welfare of the participants.
Institutional contacts
The president of the AEJeST was able to hold different meetings with the Mexican delegation and the Rarámuri community; with representatives of Cyprus to inform them of the meeting we had in Paphos on the occasion of the CA meeting organized by KTIMA; with the president of ISCA, Mr. Mogens Kirkeby; with Mr. Chung Wha-Tae, President of WoMAU, the UNESCO-recognized organization of the World Martial Arts Union based in South Korea; with Mr. Jackie Lauff, representative of the National Olympic Committees of Oceania, also CEO of an NGO, “Sport Matters”; with Mr. Walter King Yan Ho, Past President of ISCPES, International Society for Comparative Physical Education and Sport
Final evaluation
The presence of the AEJeST in these extraordinary meetings is a very positive action. Facilitates the visibility of the AEJeST; it also establishes contacts worldwide, and has an overview of the latest priorities established by the countries of the different continents in terms of physical activity and sport.
