On April 27th, at the Faculty of Sports Sciences and Physical Education of the University of Coimbra, the 1st TOPi – Piolho game Tournament – took place, under the scope of the course unit Traditional Portuguese Games, organized by the teacher Ana Rosa Jaqueira.
This type of activity is directly connected to the proposals of the European Traditional Sports and Games Association and the Portuguese Federation of Traditional Games, in the sense of preservation and dynamization of traditional ludic activities, fulfilling the desideratum of UNESCO that considers traditional games as intangible heritage of Humanity. Five teams competed (Os Trafulhas, Number 1, Petralhas, Desnorteados, and Quintas Trágicas), in a simple eliminatory competition model, and the winner was Quintas Trágicas.
