ITSGA – Election of the Council 2020 – 2023
by Biel Pubill Soler in Meetings
The ITSGA – International Traditional Sports an Games Association – has renewed its Council members. The last general meeting had taken place in Coimbra and Lousã, Portugal at the end of 2015. In 2019 two meetings had been scheduled for a general meeting, Iran and Tunisia, but the usual difficulties (visas, and travel funding) had postponed the agenda. It was during the December 2019 meeting in Tunisia that the decision was taken to organize the electoral process by email. The Council was therefore elected by all the member organizations in March 2020, the 19th. Then a deadline was given to the presidential candidates to present their candidacy and a work plan for the period 2020-2023. Only one candidate, Guy Jaouen, former president, presented a work plan (discussed individually with all the Council members). The election was held on April 21.
The president of ITSGA for the period 2020-2023 is Guy JAOUEN, vice-president of the AEJeST, former secretary general of the FILC, former president of the FALSAB Confederation. The vice-presidents are: Pere LAVEGA for Europe; Joseph RASHIDI SALUMU for Africa; Gholamreza JAFARI for South-West Asia (1.9 billion inhabitants); Wilfredau CHAU for Central and South America (see the complete file attached)
The main action will be:
1) to continue to structure and consolidate continental organizations;
2) to support and promote the organization of meetings such as: Colloquium-Festival to be more visible. Note that Pere Lavega, president of the AEJeST, will be the leader of an important commission: “University Training through an informal ITSGA network (physical training or video conferences).
