Project of creation for a Croatian National Association of Traditional Games and Sports

Members of Istarski Pljockarski Savez (IPS) was for the second year guests on one of greatest manifestation held in Croatia, in locality of Brodjanci on the eastern Slavonia. The manifestation started in 1973 and this year was the 47th edition, with about 900 participants in 20 disciplines.

The “international pljočke festival”

The “international pljočke festival” has been held for the fourth time from 13th to 15th June 2019 in Svetivinčent, Croatia. It was organized by the IPS, and for the first time it was patronized by the UNESCO Office in Croatia. The first day was about the work with schools and cooperation on projects concerning traditional games and sports. In the afternon there was a scientific conference named THE UNESCO REGISTER OF GOOD PRACTICES IN THE SAFEGUARDING OF THE TRADITIONAL GAMES AND SPORTS, organized with the expert assistance of the Ethnographic Museum of Istria, with which the IPS has been cooperating from the very beginning of its activity.

HISTORICAL ASSEMBLY IN AOSTA

More than sixty members of the European Association of Traditional Games and Sports have been invited to participate in the annual meeting organized, on this occasion in Aosta, by the Federachon Sport of Nohtra Tera with the collaboration of the Italian Federation of Traditional Games and Sports. Fifty people attended, among delegates and companions, who had as their base the Hotel Diana, in Pollein, a municipality near Aosta.

TRADITIONAL SPORTS and GAMES of IRAN

From March 30 to April 14, 2019, a study trip and meetings were planned in Iran (see map), in collaboration with the I.R.IRAN RURAL SPORT & LOCAL GAMES FEDERATION, and his president Gholamréza Jafari (also Vice-President of ITSGA).
Numerous meetings have been organized, either with regional leaders of traditional sports or with the administration of sport, or with regional governors and finally senior officials of the Ministry of Sport and Youth. The goal was to exchange information, material, ideas around development projects, festivals or international congresses.

There are many traditional wrestling styles in Iran, all very popular. Here a view of the great Choukhe wrestling tournament at Esfarayen, with about 20,000 spectators!
Presentation of the AEJeST flag to President Jafari.
The European Association was represented by Guy Jaouen, also president of ITSGA, the international TSG coordination. He was accompanied by Petar Petrov, a researcher at the Institute of Ethnography in Sofia and a specialist in wrestling sports. President Jafari also presented a copy of the first volume (700 pages) of the encyclopedia of traditional sports and games which is currently in construction. Two other volumes are in preparation, representing nearly 1100 different practices.
Following this two-week exchange, collaborative actions will be proposed to AEJeST, notably through international festivals and congresses.

International Congress: The traditional game today: surveillance, projection and social utility

The past 29, 30 and 31 of March took place, in Cangas del Narcea, the International Congress: The traditional game today: surveillance, projection and social utility, organized by the Association of the Vaqueiro Bolo, the Conceyu of Cangas del Narcea, the Sociedá Etnomotora Asturiana and the European Association of Traditional Games and Sports.
The meeting was exquisitely led by the friends of the Bolo Vaqueiro Association who prepared a rigorous, entertaining, varied and enriching program.

Several members of ETSGA organizations along with other TSG enthusiastic colleagues participated in Le Colloque International Pratiques esportives traditionnelles et turisme cultural durable. Tamanrasset, Algeria, 7-12 January 2019. organized by the Association Sauver l’IMZAD chaired by Farida Sellal.
The colloquium dealt with the following topics: description and analysis of traditional sports games; cultural context of the JDT; Games, sports and identity challenges; contributions of the JDT to sustainable tourism.

XVI EDITION OF THE TOCATI FESTIVAL, 13-16 SEPTEMBER 2018

In this new edition of TOCATÌ (Festival Internazionale dei Giochi in Strada) 137 activities have been programmed, including games, conferences, meetings, project exhibitions, laboratories… On this occasion the guests of honour were the games organisations of the South of France with the “quilles au maillet”, the tambourine game, the Basque rural games, petanque, etc.
