GENERAL ASSEMBLY EXTRAORDINARY OF THE AEJEST

The city of Svetvincenat -Croatia- will host from October 20 to 24 the General Assembly of the AEJeST, during which the elections to the new Board of Directors will take place.

The Organizing Committee, composed of members of the AEJeST as well as IPS (Istarski Pljočkarski Savez) and HSTIS (Croatian Traditional Games and Sports Association), in addition to the General Assembly, has planned a varied program that includes the OPPORTUNITY Erasmus + project,

a scientific conference and the celebration of the 5th Pljočke International Festival.

Workshop activities are also planned for schools, people with intellectual disabilities and the blind with the participation of guests from Project Opportunity.

CANCELLATION OF AGM BRITTANY 2020

Dear colleagues:

As a result of the international health alert caused by COVID-19, the Lorient Inter-Celtic Festival has been suspended. For the same reason, the FALSAB Confederation has resigned from organising the General Assembly planned for August 2020 in Brittany, coinciding with the 90th anniversary of its foundation. Supporting FALSAB’s decision, the AEJeST Council of Administration agreed in its last meeting, to suspend definitively the AG2020 in a face-to-face way, and to consult the legal adviser the possibility of calling it on line at the end of the summer giving validity to its agreements. However, in the event that the agreements of this online GA are not valid, the CA will propose an online meeting of all the members, on an experimental basis, in order to know its functioning in case it is considered appropriate to include its future use in the Internal Regulations.

30th anniversary of the 1st major European TSG gathering and birth of the network that created AEJeST

30 years ago (in 1990) a week of meetings was organized in Brittany which turned out to be historic.

Two major events of these meetings took place at the Ti Ar Gouren Training Center, the other one in Carhaix where an important cultural association was associated to the organization.

This week was made up of three events: Anniversary International meetings of 1990 in Brittany – En

– a one-week international seminar aimed at making the point of the situation on traditional sports and games in Europe,

– an international course of traditional wrestling of Europe,

– an international festival of traditional psorts and games organized on Easter Monday, April 16, 1990 in Carhaix, with the participation of thirty delegations.

Rencontre Internationale des jeux et sports du patrimoine pour les personnes agées

The Association Internationale des Jeux et Sports Traditionnels (ITSGA), the Association Africaine des Jeux et Sports Traditionnels (AAJST), together with the Association tunisienne de sauvegarde des TSG organized in Mannouba, Tunisia, from 10 to 14 December 2019, the 7th edition of Rencontres internationales sur les Jeux et sports traditionnels, with the theme “Jouons pour vivre ensemble”.

On August 8th, coinciding with the “XXIV Valdearcos Cultural Week”, a small town in the south of the province of León (Spain), Mr. Pep Ribas from Ibiza, President of the Balearic Federation, hold a conference on the history of sling shooting which was entitled ‘The mercenary slingers of the Balearic Islands in Roman times’. On Sunday, August 11th there was an exhibition and a competition with free registration.

The “international pljočke festival”

The “international pljočke festival” has been held for the fourth time from 13th to 15th June 2019  in Svetivinčent, Croatia. It was organized by the IPS, and for the first time it was patronized by the UNESCO  Office in Croatia. The first day was about the work with schools and cooperation on projects concerning traditional games and sports. In the afternon there was a scientific conference named THE UNESCO REGISTER OF GOOD PRACTICES IN THE SAFEGUARDING OF THE TRADITIONAL GAMES AND SPORTS, organized with the expert assistance of the Ethnographic Museum of Istria, with which the IPS has been cooperating from the very beginning of its activity.

HISTORICAL ASSEMBLY IN AOSTA

More than sixty members of the European Association of Traditional Games and Sports have been invited to participate in the annual meeting organized, on this occasion in Aosta, by the Federachon Sport of Nohtra Tera with the collaboration of the Italian Federation of Traditional Games and Sports. Fifty people attended, among delegates and companions, who had as their base the Hotel Diana, in Pollein, a municipality near Aosta.
