COMMUNIQUE ON THE WAR ON UKRAINE

by Biel Pubill Soler in General

On behalf of the Board of Directors, at this time of great sadness and concern, we would like to send you this COMMUNIQUE ON THE WAR ON UKRAINE:

Last week we learned the sad news that Russia, and also Belarus, have launched a large-scale military attack on Ukraine with very serious and very sad consequences for the civilian population. Although AEJeST is an organisation neutral of any political or religious militancy, we think that in recognition of the values that traditional games and sports promote, it is appropriate to state that:

We strongly condemn the use of military aggression as an instrument to settle territorial disputes which is contrary to international law and human rights. Furthermore, we express the need to address and resolve political problems on the basis of democracy and respect for peoples and minorities.

In solidarity with the people of Ukraine and, in particular, with the people and organisations that may exist related to traditional games and sports, we convey to them our sincere support.

In addition, we invite all AEJeST members to join in condemning this war through their social networks and to join efforts in the hope of trying to resolve the territorial conflict in Ukraine by peaceful means.

Pere Lavega

President AEJeST

A worldwide network of teachers and researchers in traditional games and sports

by Biel Pubill Soler in Meetings

Since 2001, when AEJeST was created, the will to encourage networking to promote TSG and their social values has been one of the main challenges. The course of time has confirmed that there are no frontiers in this field. Moreover, it led us in 2009 to become founding members of ITSGA and to initiate projects at the European and international levels.

As we told you in our candidacy, one of the initiatives is to create a worldwide network of teachers and researchers in traditional games and sports.

After announcing this initiative to colleagues from different continents, we received a very positive response from people motivated to participate in this network as teachers and/or researchers.

In parallel, after receiving the institutional support of INEFC, I think that the beginning of the year 2022 is a good time to present this project.

You are all invited to attend the presentation.

Pere Lavega (President AEJeST)

Recognition of good practices in the safeguarding and promotion of TSG

by Biel Pubill Soler in General

It is a source of pride to belong to the AEJeST and to participate in the safeguarding and promotion of traditional games and sports (TSG) as intangible heritage. For this reason, it is necessary for the AEJeST to promote the public recognition of individuals and organisations of the AEJeST or other Institutions as examples of good practice in the safeguarding and promotion of TSG. Next, the procedure to be followed for the recognition of persons or entities is established.
