Alain BOVO, in his introduction, specifies the objectives of the meetings scheduled for the next ones from February to March 2023. It is recalled that each representative of an Association, Federation, University, Training Center and Individual Members are invited and can register and come and share their experiences.

Dear AEJeST Community, we are about to end this year, 2022. Despite the economic and health difficulties we are currently experiencing, the members of the AEJeST have continued to work in favour of safeguarding the JDT and the social values they promote. The CA has continued to work intensively on each of the projects. A week ago, we organized one last meeting to continue coordinating the actions for the next ones. Among the multiple news, I would like to highlight several topics:

The festival Tocatì, World Cultural Heritage!

Photo: The delegation representing supporters of Tocatì’s candidacy in Morocco included Aga President Paolo Avigo, Aga Vice President Giuseppe Giacon, Valentina Lapiccirella Zingari, Verona Mayor Damiano Tommasi and Culture Councilor and relations with UNESCO Marta Ugolini.
The Tocatì festival become world cultural heritage. The candidacy of the festival of traditional games and sports was supported by several countries (Croatia, Belgium, France, Cyprus)and was positively evaluated during the 17th session of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Committee of Unesco in Rabat, Morocco.

Creation of the Continental organization ATSGA – October 1st, 2022

History: The Constitutive General Assembly of the ATSGA was organized on October 1, 2022. It was the last step of a long process that began on 29-07-2020 with the Vice President Gholamreza Jafari (Iran) and a group of officials from ITSGA, the global platform gathering the continental organizations AEJeST, AAJST, APJDAT and now ATSGA. Guy Jaouen, Pere Lavega were also part of this group along with some other Asian officials.

TRAWECU Project – Final Meeting in SERRES, Macedonia, Greece

During almost two years of collective work, meetings and contacts, partners of the TRAWECU project (Greece, Serbia, Romania, Spain, France) met in SERRES, 80.000 inhabitants, near the Bulgarian border, Greece. The program was linked to a major multi-day trade fair, SEREXPO. On Saturday an international conference was organized in the morning, then in the afternoon a traditional wrestling competition of PALI in the SEREXPO space. Then on Sunday was scheduled a meeting to review the project + visits.

20th anniversary of the TOCATI festival, September 15-18, 2022

The TOCATI festival celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2022. This great international festival is organized by the AGA Verona, Associazione Giochi Antichi (Association of Ancient Games), with the help and support of many other public and private structures: Verona City Council, Ministry of Culture, Province of Verona, Veneto Region (Venice), private companies and of course associations and federations of traditional games and sports without which there would be no TOCATI festival. Let’s not forget the hundreds of volunteers who work in the shadows during the festival so that everything goes for the best.

XXI Ordinary General Assembly of the AEJeST

Next Saturday, September 17, the XXI Ordinary General Assembly of the AEJeST will take place in Verona, in which the participation of more than 40 associations is expected. The meeting coincides with the celebration of the twentieth edition of Tocatì, Festival Internazionale dei Gicohi in Strada (September 15-19).
