The TOCATI festival celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2022. This great international festival is organized by the AGA Verona, Associazione Giochi Antichi (Association of Ancient Games), with the help and support of many other public and private structures: Verona City Council, Ministry of Culture, Province of Verona, Veneto Region (Venice), private companies and of course associations and federations of traditional games and sports without which there would be no TOCATI festival. Let’s not forget the hundreds of volunteers who work in the shadows during the festival so that everything goes for the best.
For its 20th anniversary, the festival had many regions from Europe and the world as guests of honor: Mexico, Scotland, Cyprus, Iran, Spain (Catalonia, Canary Islands), Greece, France (Occitania, Brittany, Basque country), Croatia, Hungary, Switzerland, Belgium, Slovenia. There were of course also many Italians represented by their “Ludic communities”.
Eighty-four (84) different activities were organized during the 4 days of the festival: meetings related to the Unesco project or those of ongoing European projects, various conferences, demonstrations of foreign games, games workshops of Italian Ludic communities, table and cognitive games, children’s games, competitions, various exhibitions (photos, books), guided tours, reflection workshops, projection of videos and films, theater, parades of musicians, various concerts, evening dances.

The AEJeST had its 21st general assembly at the time of the festival, because the AGA Verona is a member of the European Association since 2007 and the AEJeST network is solicited each year for the program, a win-win game because the festival TOCATI is a showcase for all traditional games and sports, at the same time as it is a privileged place of meeting and exchange for all the protagonists. It is a moment when the TSG actors recharge their energy to then transmit it in their organizations.
