by Biel Pubill Soler in Festivales
On Wednesday, May 10, the town of Flix (Tarragona) hosted the seventeenth edition of Tradijoc: a gathering of popular and traditional games from the Ribera d’Ebre and Terra Alta, with the participation of all the students who are in the 1st year ESO of both counties.
In this year’s edition, more than 280 boys and girls from the educational centers of the area have participated, with the dynamism of fifty monitors, all of them 4th grade ESO students from the Flix Institute under the coordination by Biel Pubill, representative of Lo Llaüt. The population of Flix has lived, therefore, a different morning, full of color, movement and more than twenty games.
After three years closed, first because of the pandemic and then because of the problems of the company in charge of its management, this first weekend in May El Fuerte opens its doors to the residents of La Almunia de doña Godina and later to the general public.
Installed in the former Convent of San Lorenzo, it brings together samples of traditional games, mainly from Spain and Europe, classified by families. Inaugurated in 2017, El Fuerte became a reality thanks to the disinterested donation of all its pieces by the great JDT specialist Fernando Maestro, and the good management of the deputy mayor Juan José Moreno.
El Fuerte is the administrative headquarters of the European Association of Traditional Games and Sports-AEJeST.
